Our Vision & Values
Our Vision is to provide the people we support with the tools they need to live the life they want in the body they have.
Our Values guide everything we do and form the basis for how we work. These are:
-
Compassion for the people we support, their families, loved ones and carers. We appreciate the additional emotional/mental burden of having a disability as well as the physical and financial implications. Our session plans revolve around finding out what outcome is most important to you, analysing what is holding you back and presenting you with the treatment options that will get you to your goal. We will support you to choose a therapy style, frequency and amount of input that works for you +/- your family. We also advocate for pain-free hands-on therapy techniques which respect the body’s limits while still giving you fantastic results.
-
Collaboration between you and us, between ourselves, with your team in the public health system, your GP and/or consultant is very important. Having complex healthcare needs can be difficult with the number of professionals who may be involved in your care. We do not charge extra fees for letters or phone calls to link in with your extended team when requested, as it is essential that everyone who needs to know about your therapy at Helping Hands Physiotherapy is kept in the loop and everyone is on the same page. We listen carefully not just to your symptoms and issues, but explore other issues which may influence your therapy plan such as your daily routine, you or your carer’s other commitments, etc to help you to find a balance between coming for sessions and working on your goals at home.
-
Practicality leads on from the other two values. We strive to ensure that recommendations made by our therapists are achievable for you and/or your carers with the resources available to you (time, finances, access to other therapies, level of education, age appropriate, etc). When a breakthrough occurs in a session and your pain, stiffness, weakness etc dramatically improves, we will find ways for you to emulate the successful techniques at home to carry on your improvements.
